Baosteel Special Steel pushes Ni alloy into mass production

At present, Baosteel's special steel branch has successfully produced nickel alloy in quantities. It is ground breaking in China to see nickel alloy being produced in quantities and on a continuous basis. Ni alloy smelting was officially launched on November 26th 2008, and so far the Special Steel branch has produced 450 tonnes of Ni alloy in total, with all relevant indexes meeting standards. It's laying a solid foundation for the mass production of its special steel's Ni alloy pipes and for it to gain market share. With over 80% of alloy content, Ni alloy oil pipe is mainly used in off-shore natural gas exploitation, which is of high corrosively. Its manufacturing procedures are complicated and hard, and there are extremely strict standards, making it a kind of technology-intensive product. Once the quality fails to come up with requirements, very serious problems would occur. And as Ni alloy oil pipe is used in rather bad conditions, it couldn't be more careful for manufacturer to produce.Baosteel's Special Steel is now making an all out effort to meet the production requirements and guarantee the smooth progress of the procedures' with satisfactory results. The Ni alloy smelting is conducted on 40 ton electric furnace production line, and all work required has been done thoroughly. In its smelting process, metal consumption for each ton of steel is down by 80 kilograms compared with its planed level, and smelting cost is saved by CNY 3.2 million, thus laying a solid foundation for embracing challenges of the market and smelting more competitive products.
